    My DIY Chicken Coop

Took some time off from building this weekend but did get some stuff accomplished during the week. Used some 2x4 studs brackets to anchor some slanted 2x4s to raise and angle the roof. I didn't use any measurements or angles. I had 4 2x4s cut at 9 3/4 inches and drew a line where the roof...

    My DIY Chicken Coop

I do. I will be using a similar pallet for the roof as I did for the floor. The long side towards the trees/my yard will be elevated from the wall at an angle with 2x4s and I plan to leave that all open. Of course covering with wire and such.

    My DIY Chicken Coop

So.... I've made some progress! Had a few set backs and a few frustrating moments, but I made it. I keep getting told I'm trying to make it too perfect, so there are a few things that I'm not 100% happy with but it'll do! I took some time to pull apart some pallets. Removing planks and...

    My DIY Chicken Coop

What's the difference between a floor made of pallet wood and a floor made of plywood??? Especially once I covered it with vinyl flooring?? Wood is wood

    My DIY Chicken Coop

I will definitely update my member profile information. Thank you for all that information. I too make access to my coop and nest boxes my priority. I didn't think a gutter system would work in dead of winter of course but keep the rain from dripping right into my nest boxes. Thanks for the...

    My DIY Chicken Coop

I'm in Michigan, so I am definitely in a snow state. I was gonna angle the roof towards the outside (the side of the nesting boxes) but was thinking of installing some sort of gutter system... Thought it would be better than angling the roof to the inside of the run...

    My DIY Chicken Coop

So I've definitely made some more progress and made some more plans for going forward! Got the vinyl flooring down and cut! I decided to go with vinyl flooring for ease of cleaning. I got a remnant piece from Home Depot for that. Got the whole foundation level on the ground. Only had to put...

    My DIY Chicken Coop

Yeah I am mostly getting cheap crappy skids for free but they are practically brand new. It's definitely not been fun having to strong arm all the boards and nails. Lol Thanks!! Gotta build as fast as I can with what time I have. Starting overtime at work this week, so we'll see how much I get...

    My DIY Chicken Coop

What a Sunday! Did a little grocery shopping for the week then came home and did some chicken coop building!! Took these 4 pallets and removed and moved planks to make a solid wall. Then took the slats off the "inside" of said wall. 1 down! 2 down Then I removed planks and cut down the...

    My DIY Chicken Coop

Those couple of pallets I had previously cut with a circular saw to get some panels for a project my wife wanted to try. That is why I decided to use them first to disassemble. And yes they were a pain in the but to take apart! Lol Also, im pretty sure you are correct in the fact that most the...

    My DIY Chicken Coop

Next I secured the slats to the pallet with some screws. Then cleaned off the left overs from where the slats where cut. We then cleaned up leftovers and pulled nails to get these 2x4s to use as leg braces. Pics of my leg braces. Then, it's all put in place and we secure each brace and leg...

    My DIY Chicken Coop

Awesome!! Thank you so much! I see so many raised coops for sale from farm stores and what not but they seem so expensive, low, and flimsy... I intend to have alot of room and stability!
