I'm thinking that my 2 mysteries might be a RIR cockerel and the pullet may be a buckeye. I know they had buckeyes on the list that hatched yesterday, so it is in the possibilities.
I think you're right, lol. I found a picture of a RIR on Google that basically looks identical to this one. Fingers crossed for a non-aggressive one. I don't need it to cuddle, just not attach itself to my arm when I fill feeders like the ones my neighbor just sold.
Does the possible RIR look like it has some extra fluff around the face? It's the same chick in the first and last pictures. I don't know how the pictures got separated since I chose them in order. My bad.
And if that is fluff, does that mean it isn't an RIR since they don't have beards/muffs...
Yeah, I know there are some success stories with them, but I'm definitely not going to get too attached. I personally know people with them or who had them and got rid of them who had serious aggression issues. Like human aggression.
I figure someone here will know way more than I do. If not now, as it grows. I'm just glad they all arrived alive and seemingly healthy. I've been a nervous wreck about shipped chicks!
The new babies are here!! We picked them up first thing this morning. Everyone looks good so far.
I got 4 Blue/BBS Orpingtons and 2 mysteries. One is supposed to be a pullet and one a cockerel. No one is banded, so I don't know which Orpington is my male yet, but that doesn't really matter...
