Yes we have animal control and have leash laws in our area. We are allowed to shoot to protect also. We have a pen connected to our coop which has a roof also the only way to get in is through the gate or the door to the coop. But we let our chickens free range in our yard which we have a fence...
I am so irate right now. We found out who the dog that attacked our chickens belongs to. She came by last night and said sorry which doesn't feel like anything after losing 5 chickens and still having 3 injured. Even more so after finding out a bit ago that it has killed quite a few other...
Had to make a very tough decision this morning. We are going to put Bella down. I think it's the best thing for her unfortunately. They all made it through the night but she is wheezing more and she now has maggots in her wound. She's the one with a punctured lung 😢. The other three are still...
Thank you, I will keep checking it. I know it can take a few cleanings to get them all. Unfortunately I had to deal with dry strike already twice since June. I checked her other wound and the other girls wounds and they all look maggot free thank goodness. Hopefully they stay that way. I think...
Update: cleaned up the wounds last night best I could. Still not sure how to really clean Bella's wound since I'm pretty sure she had a punctured lung so I dabbed it with some gauze and saline and put a little medicine around the puncture. Wish I could flush it. I mixed up some electrolyte...
Thank you so much. Yes there is wheezing coming out of a specific hole in her wound. The one with the broken wing I'm pretty sure it's a closed break. I didn't see any broken skin or anything on it or around it. Her wound is up more between her wings on her back and a bit more towards her other wing
The one I'm most worried about putting anything on even saline is Bella because I'm pretty sure she had a punctured lung and i don't want the liquids to get in her lung
The first is Ruby the red one she's 6 months old has a decent sized gash on her upper chest under her left wing and a small tear under her right.
The second is Layla the black and red she's 6 months old and has a gash on her lower back like like more of a tear and not deep
The first is Mocha the red and black one she's 5yrs and the second worst. Good sized gash on her back and pretty sure had a broken left wing.
The second is Violet the black one she's 2yrs old has a lash on her lower back not very deep.
This is Bella our boss lady she's 5yrs old. She's the worst. A big wound on her back and pretty sure she might have a punctured lung and when I was out there sneezed out some blood.
I came out of my house yesterday and found a dog that we have never seen before 2 days ago chewing on one of my hens. I got over to find her dead so we went looking for the other 11 hens. After a 6 hour search we found 3 dead and 5 injured and 4 not injured. They range in the ages of 6 months to...
