Welcome aboard!! I'm not far from you. We are just outside of Plattsmouth on a small acreage. We are headed down your way on the 4th for the Freedom Festival.
We are just south of Bellevue. No heat and no insulation, just a well ventilated coop. We also have a covered run that we mostly wrap with sheeting in the winter. Even when the temp dips to minus zero if you reach in and feel a hen under her feathers she is nice and warm.
Since the run is...
Anybody ever go to these auctions? I'm curious if they are worth going to.

I thought it might be fun to take the kids to and maybe add a couple of new bantam hens to the flock.

Thanks! I just sent a request to join the group.
After lots of patience on craigslist we finally found 3 Colombian Rock bantam hens and one Turken Naked Neck bantam hen.
Thanks. We have been checking craigslist almost daily all summer and usually just find roosters and pairs. We are not giving up though :)
I may have to break down an put an order in with mypetchicken.com for sexed bantams :)
PS. Roll Tide!
Lately has been some awesome weather but it sounds like the heat and humidity returns on Friday. Unfortunately when it gets real hot our flock has learned that the bushes in the ditch on the other side of the county road is the cool spot to be. A couple of weeks ago one of our roosters didn't...
