I'm still waiting for my permit to come in with the exact number of babies I can have. Once that comes in I'll let you know! I wanted at least 2 EEs.

I finally got my chicks! So far we have 2 Barred Rocks, 2 RIR and 2 Black Australorps. I'm picking up an Ameraucana/EE today.

Well I was going to start with 6 but everyone keeps saying chicken math is definitely a thing and I'll end up with 12 so I made it bigger. There's going to be a couple windows and also a few vent spaces. I figured it wouldn't be too hard to plan out a couple more. I haven't bought the lumber yet...

I live on the edge of Elkhorn/Waterloo. I was going to build an 8 foot by 4 foot "shed" type thing. Like this:

Where is the best place to get chicks from? Preferably within driving distance (2hrs) from Omaha or a low shipping fee? I really don't want to spend $40 on shipping. I really only want 6-12 chickens. Any help would be appreciated!
