Soft shells
Wanted to add..the feed I buy for the girls already has some calcium in it. However, when I don't offer the oyster shell besides I really notice a difference in the thickness of the eggshells.- gritsar

Soft shells
Yes, you can see soft shells and other egg anomalies when hens first start laying. Are you offering oyster shell? They really need it to replace the calcium they are putting into the production of their eggs.- gritsar
