I think the chicken wire wouldn't have been bad if the snow had a chance to melt between storms. It was OK for a while, but once you get a solid layer covering the wire, it just builds up fast.

More snow coming today!!!! I feel so bad for the girls not getting out to free range. They sure do hate walking in the snow. I have a raised coop so they hop out and hang out under it during the day, but it's not the same.

It's COLD here but the snow seems to have stopped. Coop thermometer reads 7.4 right now. Poor chickens.

Thanks for posting about Sunrayhatchery.com. They are a perfectly reasonable driving distance for me. I will be getting some new chicks in the spring, but would only like about 5-6 chicks.
