I've got a good suggestion. Get a motion sensor. But don't connect it to a light. First, set it for just a 30 second cycle before it turns off again. Instead, hook it up to a strobe light AND to a horn/noisemaker of some kind. Not enough to wake the dead, but enough to startle the snot out...
