Do You Take Newborn Chicks Away From A Broody Hen??

In my experience if you can't put a nesting box at ground level, take the chicks away. I lost 5 silkie chicks recently because their nesting box was on the upper level. They either died on impact jumping down or got down but couldn't get back up. I don't know if different breeds will 'carry them...

Do You Take Newborn Chicks Away From A Broody Hen??

Thank you. I was worried that she would give up sitting on the eggs if I moved her, but now you have said it it is obvious that I could just put them in the incubator. Will Daddy go nuts without her. He will be all alone in the coop.
