The coop was painted with what we had around some left by the previous owner. The inside was painted with deck and porch paint. So it was pretty thick glossy stuff. Hopefully it will be easier to clean. The run is not completely secure yet, the coop is. It has chicken wire on the top. The...

Well, finally the girls are outside. Just a couple things left to do before winter and a few things I want to change but those will have to wait for Spring. Hope to have some eggs by Christmas. Keep your fingers crossed. Before winter 1. Find a way to open and close the pop door without...

The girls moved in on Thursday afternoon. The cardboard is covering the nest boxes to keep them out of them until they get closer to laying. Here they are their first night. Huddled in the corner. Guess they haven't figured out the roost yet. Yesterday I built them a little ladder to...

The girls turn 6 weeks tomorrow. Almost time to go outside. Got all the doors and windows finished this weekend. All of the painting is pretty well done except touch ups. Need to finish latches and other hardware. The trim will have to wait until everything else is done. It will match the...

More progress. Got most of the painting done today inside and out. Made these windows today. The glass is tinted. I wanted clear but I had the tinted so the price was right. Once I put up the rest of the trim it will be the same color as the window trim. They are the same size but...

Making some progress. This is tree fort building at it's finest. There is no 16" on center here just get it done. I think if I were building this from scratch it would have been done long ago. Trying to "make" things work takes a lot of time. Also things are not even close to plumb which...

Some updates... I decided to shorten it a bit but still leave enough room for the chickens to get underneath. Gabby backs the truck in with the lumber. Putting on the roof. The planks are recycled decking. A few of the walls starting to go in with insulation in place.

Built the nest boxes today. 6 chickens 2 boxes. They are 12 X 12. The opening is like 10 by 12 because of the panel on the front to hold things in. Chicks should be here tomorrow. Then the clock starts ticking to get this thing done.

Today was deconstruction day. Started looking like this. Tip it over and start cutting and my friend Steve is starting to take things apart. Here it is cut down and almost ready to start building. You can see my pile of "free" stuff in the back. Here is the first question I am sure...
