My hens over ate some Mellon and their crops are stuffed and they're obviously unhappy and panting a bit- will they be ok tomorrow or do I need to do something to help them? It was just an hour ago, should I be worried? Usually they don't do things like that!
So all 7 of our 7 hatched, hatch number 2 is tomorrow! They're adorable :-) I'm
Going to try and feather sex them lol and then see how I did. Its not going to be perfect- some of the breeds probably won't allow it at all but worth a shot
Ok so I'm hovering around this incubator like the crazy person that I am... 29 are developing nicely :-) lots of nice veins and creepy wiggly little alien birds squirming around in there. I have 5 that I can't get a good feel for... Ones very pretty but too dark and speckled to even see the air...
Thanks! I figured if I get even just a few birds out of 63 eggs that made it to the house I'm winning at things :-) by the end of the year we hope to have our own roosters :-D then things should be a bit less iffy. I examined all the eggs before they went in and they at least are in hatching...
Ive got 2 incubators going right now, last dozen going in tomorrow afternoon :-) I'm kind of a newbie to the hatching thing so I'm just crossing my fingers... A lot. Also I read everything I could get my hands on. We don't have a roo so I got a (ok 4) box(s) of eggs shipped in / lav & mottled...
Oh I'm excited, its chicken season here for sure! We have 8 chicks in the brooder and about 40 eggs comeing from here and there... Some with more promise than others. Some beautiful ameraucana parents though ;) and going to try russian orloffs this year. I really have no clue what I'm doing but...
In theory... If you had a proper enclosure you can have a few birds inside as 'pets' not livestock as long as you make no financial gain right? I could be wrong and it might just be a silly idea anyway but I think they can't come in your house about this no birds nonsense :-/
