Jim, I started out two years ago with a small coop and 32 chicks, 25 freedom rangers for the freezer and 6 buff orpingtons to raise for layers. I currently have 4 turkeys, 10 layer hens and a rooster. This year I have about 300 chicks on order. These critters are like Pringles, once you start...

These would be chicks, not eggs. I'm planning to go to chicken stock in May if you are interested in any. I can keep them until then.

Is there something specific you are looking for? Where are you located? I have a bunch coming in a couple of weeks that may have what you are looking for. Here's a list of what I'm getting. I could spare a 1-2 of each depending on what you wanted. Blk Australorps Aracauna White PlyRock SLW Buff...

I may be wrong, but I believe they only hatch out the breeds that are ordered, plus a few extras for eggs that fail to develop. I think that is why there is a roughly 4 week wait on them.

I ordered my first chicks from there in August 2015. The birds did well. The problem I had was trying to get a response from them when I e-mailed them. I tried for two or three weeks to e-mail them to confirm my chicks would be/were ready for pick up and would not get a response. I called them a...

Hi folks. Hope everyone is doing well. Congrats to everyone that has new chicks. Life has been busy and keeping me away for awhile. We have finally been able to get everything done to have our farm business set up. We are excited to chase after this new chapter in our lives. Please check out our...

    NY chicken lover!!!!

I raise my own freedom rangers specifically for meat along with the occasional cockerel that hatches from my layers. We haven't had store bought chicken in over a year now. The rangers I have raised out to between 5 and 8 pounds dressed in 12-13 weeks. I did two consecutive flocks of 50 birds...

I'm sure someone here could help me out. I'm looking for a chicken saddle, and I thought someone local on here made them. I would prefer to help out another small business than to go straight to eBay. Thanks, Dave

My garden has been hit and miss so far this year. Beans and peas are doing really well. We've canned 60 quarts of beans and froze 2 gallons of shelled peas this week. Corn is doing well also and should have a pretty good crop this year. I didn't have any peppers come up at all, and very few...

I don't have any experience with the CX, but I use blue seal multi flock chick and game starter for my freedom rangers. The first batch this spring averaged 7 lbs in 12 weeks. It is 22% protein. Dave

We had our meat birds processed this week. I was quite satisfied with the results. Out of 40 birds, the smallest was 6 lbs dressed with the largest two both at 8 lbs. The average for the flock was 6.93 lbs.

I'm currently doing the same thing for my new coop, except that mine will have a dirt floor. I instead bought enough concrete blocks to use as a foundation that is buried roughly 12 inches down into the ground and then used treated 4x6s to put between the blocks and the pallet walls. This will...

I think you will be fine with that. I've had my rangers out in the coop since they were about 10 days old. They are 4 1/2 weeks old now and they are all fine. I had a heat lamp out there with them. The coop has a large door going into the run that stays open all of the time, and even when the...
