Ruby the Pug woke me up so she could go out.
I woke the roosters when I got this.
I could tell it wasn't a great pic, but one by one, the boys started crowing. it was quarter of three in the morning.
there are 15 roosters back there... I heard Royce, Max, Henry, Hubert and Red. bet my neighbor...
it's been a while... but I thought I'd stop by and say Happy Sprin-ter - and celebrate with y'all the new season that is the Winter we all have every Spring... got mud? and frozen mud? yeah... and we still have snow... been flurrying every day...
so anyway, hope everyone is well, flocks are...
my dome hoop is protected from the heavy west winds as it is tucked in an odd corner of the house, behind the attached garage and an addition room that forms an L shape in the back... but it gets battered by wind from every other direction and has held up beautifully. the frame is wrapped...
you're not likely to find insulated mucks at Wal or Kmart... maybe in boys... depends on what shoe size you wear, if you can get the smallest mans boot or the biggest boys boot... they have more in the way of warmth for the guys... but, you get what you pay for, and you don't want a plain...
muck boots are rubber boots, but some have a bit of insulation in them. mine do and I can wear them without socks in the warmer months, they don't breathe, because they are rubber... but my feet don't freeze in them unless they were already cold when I slip the boots on... I think mine were...
pharm, muck boots are sold in a variety of places, but the best are the LLBean... slip on and off, really comfy and they run big. I normally wear a size 8-8.5. my mucks are size 7... LLBean has nice ladies patterns too, mine have purple paisley with a greenish tan background. love them in all...
I skipped 4 pages... probably shouldn't have... but on the subject of EE's... I have so many. it's pretty unusual for them to lay before 26 weeks. more common between 28 - 30 weeks. and don't throw in the towel if it takes longer. it's worth the wait.
I just have to laugh at my good luck with the TV ads that kids have to have everything they see... my almost 4 year old granddaughter has been raised with a DVR, most of her programs are prerecorded... she hollers Commercials are on! the instant they start, and needs to have them fast...
oh yes, mine really love tomatoes... and your "ear seed" reminded me... last summer, I was awakened in the middle of the night by whatever... and I reached out to pat my dog. I felt something lumpy, so I pinched for it... in the dark, it felt like an enormous tick, and then it felt wet-ish, so...
518 is a pretty geographically vast area... and the territory varies wildly, from true urban living to the very rural right to farm areas... what kind of property do you have to work with? and how many birds to you plan to keep...
it all depends on your budget and what resources are handy...
rancher, if you get the same wheelbarrow, you already have lots of spare parts... like the tire... to keep you going for a long time. I had to get a new tire this year too..
doing the same thing here Lynzi, have hauled 6 piled high wheelbarrow loads out already, 2 more have been dug up and piled for removal today... got a count on the tarps and ties... can't believe that we could have snow in just a few weeks, time always flies. love the great dirt the gang makes...
Greetings Everyone!
I wanted to pass on some new information regarding USPS's shipping of live adult birds... and honestly, I'm do not know how to start a new thread, or if it is even necessary... could post this on the various state threads... word will get around
USPS has revised...
Hey everyone! things are great up on the hill, but I'm looking for chicks. my broody hatched out 3 beautiful chicks for a friend of mine and she was supposed to let my hen brood them for a few weeks, but she took them already... now my hen is bereft. she won't stop calling for them... it's...
it's been a while, I have lots of reading to do to catch up, hope everyone is well! we are still experiencing frozen water every morning up here on the hill... been really busy with work and chicken tending. the boys bachelor pen is set up, I have lots of space for breeding, and the December...
hey everybody! it's been a long time since I've had "time" to relax at byc and catch up... work is heavy, for which I am grateful, yet tired. the gang is doing great, the December chicks have grown out and have joined them in the dome. it's a little chaotic as they rearrange their social...
I've known a few people who suffered early onset, and lived for up to 2 decades... the sorrow is incredible. I'm grateful that her suffering was relatively short given the circumstances.... thank you all for your kind thoughts.
I haven't had a chance to spend much time on byc lately... and have some 355 posts to catch up on! thought I would pop in to say hi! and that all is well, the chicks are doing great, and getting big, and the older gang is also doing very well, the girls are laying like crazy, and the 3 boys...
