I know when my Uncle ( property owner) comes again, he and I are putting chicken wire (300') across the entire front edge to keep our chickens from crossing the road even though my elderly neighbor doesn't mind them coming over to her house. We just haven't figured out how to do a gate yet.

Lauramay, that is true. I do my best to respect any and all animals. I just could do without worrying about when and if my flock is going to reduced and by what kind of predator. I'm already down to less than 40 hens where last year added around 48 chicks (24 BO and 24 RIR) and now only have 3...

I also live in a remote area so far *knock on wood* I haven't encountered them either. It's just a scary thought I could lose my flock to this animal and according to law I'm not able to do anything about it. Sometimes it's good the laws are there but then in these kind of circumstances...

For any and all who live in or near Otsego County NY- BE CAREFUL AND WATCHFUL OF YOUR FLOCK! There's a predator, named Fisher Cats that can and will demolish a flock of chickens, ducks, geese, or anything small. I was just informed of that this morning on my way to an appointment.

Seeing how I'm brand new at chickens I'm going to take a wild guess at the first pic just by looking at the feathers they look to have rounded saddle feathers so I think they are pullets but no matter what I think they are very pretty.

That part of NYS has some really good looking countryside landscapes but this part of NYS has excellent looking country landscapes.
