Rainy here today. Glad I cleaned the run last night. Need to make some chipmunk/squirrel traps Ive noticed the few that were around have invited the aunts, uncles, cousins for the free morning meal. :/
I have 2 roos.. I took a good look at all of my chickens this morning. My 3 light Brahma's.. 2...
You are brave. There is no way i could do this. I possibly could have 1 rooster and thought of doing this makes me cringe. I know its what people do. Im not against it at all. I love chicken. I just cant raise animals then kill and eat them. I give alot of credit to those who can.
We caught a skunk last year in a trap intended for a nasty stray cat.
The only option we had was to drown it in our pond. The skunk was extremely irate and it was early in the morning and my husband had to go to work, we couldnt leave it all day in the trap. Needless to say, we haven't set the...
All is well in Oswego County. We got hit pretty hard in our area, lots of trees down, power was out from 6 until 3 am here, still out in some places, but we didn't get it hit as hard as Some of the other counties. My heart is breaking for the lives lost and the devastation in Madison county. :(...
I called them.. They got them from Ideal Hatchery and Mt Heathy Hatchery. The EE's were sexed but only a 98 percent guarentee.. (Also sold as Americauna's). The Light Brahma's were sold as straight run.. I was told they were pullets..Im not happy!!! If I was told they were straight run, I would...
Deatons agway in my local town. I dont know what hatchery they get them from. I didnt ask. I can. I dont have any recent pictures of their legs but my next trip out I can get some. This one stands out to me because of the longer tail. I could be just jumping the gun, its comb is still a pale...
Ok NY peeps.. Whatcha think? Roo's? Pullets? Too early to tell? One is a EE, the other a lt Brahma.. Both hatchery chick sexed and sold as pullets.. 7/8 weeks old., thanks..
Disappointment day 2...
I do believe one of my EE's is also a ROO!!
After doing some research on young chick and what to watch for.. This EE is showing all the signs.. I bought these chicks as sexed pullets!!
This chick is already got a longer tail set curling down, showing lots of red...
I will get a pictures in a bit.. Its not the easiest chick to catch.. Its fast, fiesty and small! Other than the prominent red comb/wattles nothing else on it stands out "cockerel" other than its been really slow to get fully feathered. Its small and scrawny compared to its flock mates. Thank...
I grabbed the Lt brahma thats been slow to feather in.. Ive noticed over the last few days its comb seems to be redder than the rest.. Roo is coming to mind even though they were suppose to be all pullets.. Heres some pics.. Whatcha think.. If its a roo.. Depending on what the family wants to...
Beautiful.. I only have girls.. We just want pets/eggs..:) so no need for a rooster so when I saw this guy I was shocked to say the least on his size. I see pictures on here but I guess they dont really capture how "big" they truly are.
