So I have had 4 die total: ( I'm going to hold off on reordering because I don't know if it was any males that died. My kids are taking it well. I told them even before they arrived that some may die. I will post pictures later:)

Well two more have died:'( one was a golden laced wyandotte and two speckled Sussex. There is still two that are pretty weak... So sad. I will call the hatchery in the morning. Hope they make it threw the night.

They made it!!!! One Speckled Sussex was DOA:) a few looking weak but they all drank and ate. How often should I check for pasty butt?

Thanks for the information everyone. All I can do is wait and pray that they all are safe and healthy! I ordered 19 so hopefully they are thriving!

I'm not sure.. I got an email that they were shipped from hatchery yesterday @ 8am... Then to a sorting facility in Mansfield OH at 7:30pm last night... Then to a sorting facility in Cleveland this morning then it just said departed in transit estimated delivery Wednesday. I hope they are OK!

Called the post office still no chicks..... I am so anxious!! I looked at the tracking number it said estimated delivery date is tomorrow!!! That is too long!!!

Oh this talk of sick chicks has me nervous... My babies get here next Tuesday and I am freaking out!! Time to get the books out and reread them I feel like I know nothing about chickens!! Oh I feel like I'm a first time mommy about to bring her baby home for the first time

The fair was fun... My back and feet disagree:) I didn't get a real good chance to scope out the barns like I wanted but did a quick walk threw with the kids. This will only be my niece second year showing cows their show is tomorrow ,Thursday and Saturday. Might go back up :)

I am going today with the kids. I might convince my husband to go tomorrow too. I love going to the barns I become a kid in a candy store!!

My bathroom is almost finished!! The washer and dryer is going in there so I can use my laundry room to brood the chicks I get on the 29th!! My husband is having issues with keeping chicks in the house but I won that argument:) all I will have to do is put a door on the room so the cats don't...

Getting so excited!!! My chicks can not come fast enough:) this week I am totally redoing the coop!

Just placed my chicken order!!!!! I ordered....Hens- 4 Dominique's , 4 Golden Laced Wyandotte's, 4 Speckled Sussex and 4 Buff Orpington. Roosters- 1 Buff Orpington and 1 Blue Laced Wyandotte!!! Plus they added a surprise chick!! I can not wait !!! they come on July 29th!!!

I think I'm going to order a buff Orpington rooster and a blue laced wyandotte rooster. I will probably end up with a unexpected male but my sister already said she would take it. I think Dominique roosters are beautiful but heard they are aggressive....

I did have Silkie for a year, hatched out some babies and then my sister caught "the fever" so I ended up giving her my whole flock of 14. Now Silkie are cute but (sorry Silkie lovers) they're just not "chickens" that grandma had. I am leaning toward mostly Orpington in my flock. I like mutt...
