There is one section devoted to birds for sale and I would plan on being there when they open the door if you think you might want to buy any birds.
What day should I be there to buy them...the first day? or Sunday?
Opa what day did you go to get them? Is it Saturday morning during the silent auction or what? Id love to go.
Also does anyone have one or two splash cochin bantams for sale that would sell them for a decent price to a 4-Her. If not can u send me some info on someone who does.
Fair is finally over...Not too bad for me in the chicken department. I won 2nd place in Senior showmanship with my Aussie. I took Reserve Grand Champ Roasters and got $662.75 for three birds!!!!! Other than that I sold my friars for $50 and my other birds were entered in 4-H and were only...
Holy Cow...what a day at the fair. Got there a lil after 6 and found a dead Roaster...had to clean that bird up and tell the other 4-Her/Owner about it. I was finally able to take care of my chickens and do all my other fair chores with animals. Later that day i found out I made 4-H King...

Im getting nervous for the fair next week. I dont feel ready and I dont know what to do with my showmanship birds. None of them do good. I may just use an Aussie and bring her up to the fair since i just got her and wasnt able to enter her. Anyone have any advice. I have a Jap hen that will...
Id love to get some of this rain but its all about 20miles south of me. I know a lot of parents are on here that have 4-hers and I just wanted to know what the best way to get a bird to pose is. Mine have gotten really bad and ive been working with em but my show is in 2 weeks so....
Are you allowed to use a chick that young? Our fair has a minimum age of 3 months. Glad to hear your Jap hen came back!!
Thank You, I asked my poultry leader and he said its okay. I mean my Jap is 2 years old and doesnt like to pose...but the cochin doesnt either.
HOLY CRAP I WISH I COULD DO THAT WELL AT MY FAIR!
BY THE WAY
MY JAP HEN CAME BACK!!!!!!!! but now i have a hard decision. Do i use the cochin that is 6 weeks old or do I use the 2 yr old Jap? Can I have your opinion? They both show almost the same but the Jap poses a little better.
...well it depends thats pretty high for them to live. You dont want them to accidentally fall to their death. Mama probably...i mean she should keeps them warm enough. You could make her a little nest out of straw or give her a box on the ground. If you want you can move the chicks into a...
