The water worked fine as far as I can tell because it did not get that cold last night. My only problem with it is my one Polish flies up to the highest smallest spot and pooped down into the water all night. lol...
I woke up to this morning and my girls waterer was frozen again. Went to TSC and got the heated dog dish. I have it on top of a large rubber tub its stable and hopefully wont get full of bedding...I hope they dont try to roost on it. I catch them now and then on the feeders. lol But anyways...
Thanks for the "cozy legs" tip! I think that would certainly make me feel a little better. lol I am off to tsc today for a heated water dish. This morning their water had a nice little film of ice. I keep the food and water in the coop from a hanger but the Ladies do bump into it and spills some...

Bethanyrae I am sorry to hear about you chickens. Our big predators by me are feral cats. There is an abandon house about a block away and the cats will stalk my birds. I am lucky in that my dogs keep them away for the most part and we lock up the Hens at night in the coop.
