Well, I didn't think my OEGB Rooster, "Ginger" could actually do it... but he propogated his manhood successfully. One of my Swedish Flower Hens went broody early this summer and hatched 2 chicks. I'm having some difficulty uploading photos (only able to change my avatar right now)...so my new...
I'm not sure if this is permissible on this thread, but I wanted to reach out to my local BYC neighbors...
and I apologize if this post doesn't belong in this thread...
I need to re home Ginger, my 6 month old Old English Game Bantam Rooster. I was hoping he would work out with the original...
Wow, thanks Karen for the info! So, you think it may not be good for them to be walking around on the pine chips and shredded paper? I think I'll have to modify my setup a bit, before they get too big!
Thanks folks!
And while the little swedies are running around my bedroom---yes, their pack n go is in my bedroom. (There was no other place to put it where I could keep out the cats. LOL)--- anyway, while they're scurrying about, I sift through the litter, which is about 3 inches of smaller...
Here's a few pics of my Swedish Flower Hen chicks. I've had them in a large tote, then a larger tote...then I found this portable play pen on Craigslist, which is working out great. I still can't tell boy/girl yet...
I let them out each day for a bit to run around and practice their take...

I went to Blue Knob to pick up my 5 Swedie Pies from JasonsQuail--a BYC member. His FIL is the one that is actually breeding them...
It may be a little much for the 10 hens I have now, but it does provide a warm cozy place to nestle for the winter months. And besides, I'm afraid I will not stop till the hen house is at FULL capacity...

The mystery has been solved as to where the little chicky came from. My hubby found out today that his brother, who is our landlord and rightful owner of our property including my hen house ---came and put the little chick in my coop early yesterday morning. Not knowing it was in...

If I could find the adapter for my camera, I could load pics to show you, Cathy. I've been hunting for it now about 3 weeks... I'll keep looking... and I reposted to the Other Pets forum...maybe someone will see it there who knows about grouse. I read they like to eat clover...That I...
So I'm out in the coop today, showing my daughter how I re-purposed an old armoire into a nesting center. While we were standing there, a little chick of some sort came right up to the coop opening. It kind of looked like a chicken but then again, not.... I gathered it up and held it close...

WOW!!! Thank you for your interest in them, and for letting us know the happy results (I'm just sorry that you didn't get one, if you're actually in need of one and not just a good samaritan helping the poor roos out)! I feel like it might be due to BYC members' good (and fast!) work...
