Have my fellow Western Pennsylvanian chicken mommas heard that the cicada are supposed to hatch this year?! I'm so excited.
I raise meal worms for the girls to have in the winter since everything is frozen here in the winter so knowing that the cicada are coming is great! I've read posts...
Can't get over how this thread took off! It's great to see so much going on.
A friend has some Royal Palm turkeys available if anyone is looking.... he's selling them in pairs. They were hatched on Easter.
He lives in Beaver County... just let me know!
If anyone is looking for smaller quantities of wheat bran for their meal worm farms, I have some to sell. If you live anywhere near 15009 (Beaver) Pa and need some, let me know.
I can mail it if you are willing to pay the shipping. I couldn't find anywhere local that sold less than 50 lbs...
Got the call from the PO! The chicks are here. Our sweet PO workers even opened the box to give them water and make sure they were okay until I could get them.

Yea! My girls are cranking 'em out too. My Gabby didn't lay an egg since last July...she started laying again last week and today I got 6 eggs from 6 girls....first 6-egg day! Yippie!
Heatherscooby ~ congrats on the little ones! Sounds like you're gonna have a nice group. That group...
I do know someone. Where in PA are you located though? They have a chicken whose companion was a duck but the duck died 4 months ago and the chicken has been lost without her friend..... strange but true!
Thanks for the offers for roosters! Don't really want to travel hours just for a rooster....hahahaaa. I've gotten a lead on two 1-year-old Cochins and I'm getting excited. I've read that they have nice personalities, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
I'm putting a request out ... we're looking for a mature, FRIENDLY rooster for our small flock. Since our girls free range, I'd really feel better if there was a rooster around. Our rooster was always great about alerting the girls to danger and keeping them rounded up, so I miss that...not...
