Look at those cuties!! I can't get over how cute silkies are--little, gentle, moppets! I have coveted Buckaboo Farm silkies for some time! She's just really far away from Sacramento haha. I have gotten silkies from Featherbabyfarm though--if you like to peruse, I highly recommend her as well...

Have they survived the mud apocalypse? I'm so glad that spring has arrived for you up there! You guys got it so much worse than we did down here. While the mud will be my forever nemesis, I still HATE the Valley heat the most! I wish I lived up by you in the cool, foggy redwoods! I try to get up...

4-H is a wonderful program! I wanted to do it as a kid and never got the chance either, so now that I have kids, I get to be involved! :) Kids are good for all sorts of things haha. The Club closest to us didn't even have a poultry project and yet they are in Fair Oaks, which is known for its...

Yes, the black d’Anvers are the ones I’ve been showing since I started, so they are my babies I bred 🥰 Another reason I was excited! The mottled pullet is one of mine too. My rooster Jager got RV but had gotten Best of Breed in Paso Robles in December, he’s a gorgeous boy! 😍

Thank you!! We took a lot of birds haha. I wanted to make the judges help me weed out the lower quality birds. ☺️ I knew Sweet Pea was promising, but she beat a lot of really great birds!! That made me super excited 🥰

Oh that’s a bummer you got sick! It was a really fun day with over 2000 birds shown! My birds did okay! Lots of competition in Rose Combs and Feather Leggeds! I was most proud of my black d’Anver pullet Sweet Pea, who competed against 43 other d’Anvers and got Reserve of Breed. 😍😍 15 blue...

I’m not sure they will be okay with dogs in the show room, but she will be in a baby carrier or outside in the picnic area in the carrier. She’s too young to let loose as she hasn’t had all her shots, so I feel like they won’t mind that as long as she’s contained and quiet :-) If not I will have...

Have you tried the Facebook groups for the Northern CA area? They are pretty active and I know there was supposedly someone near San Jose starting a rooster rescue...I don't remember what her name was though. I also found this lady - https://funkychickenrescue.com/ you could contact. She might...

Yes, most native trees are protected unless they are threatening homes/property or there are special circumstances and mitigation planned (planting new ones, etc.). Most cities have rules that are more specific, but in general they are protected from removal if over a certain size. :) That is...
