What is leakage or leakadge?
Is that like a throw back gene?
Hopefully my second hatch from a different breeder will be more true.
Thanks for the help
pips&peeps :
The black and white one is in no way any color or mixed variety color I have ever seen.
The others could be blacks, it justs makes you wonder when the one comes out like that.
Yes, I have wondered about her as well. Appreciate your comments. Thanks!

None of these birds are splash.
I think you may not have gotten true ameraucanas. White ameraucanas are recessive white and would either hatch white or black carrying the recessive gene.
I am inclined to say they are probably mixed breeds or ee's. What color are...

oooooooooo, she's beautiful. She was a cull?? Shows you what I know. She's gorgeous. I hope I eventually get some blues but what I understand is if I breed splash to black I will get blues. Time will tell.

I love her color. I'm sorry you lost her. I had hoped for blues but not in this hatch. I have some more in now, hopefully they will make it despite the power outages we had.
Ok, here are bad pics of my babies. Do you think they are all girls?
Ameraucana Splash 1
Two Ameraucana Splash - the white and black one is the most shy and will not pose for me.
Black Ameraucana chick - this one was last to hatch and got stuck in the shell. All better now. BCM chick...

Funny, My eyes read Ameraucanas, but in my mind thought EE. If I hadn't made that mistake, I wouldn't have posted them.
Oh well, new pics on my computer, I needed to put them somewhere! what can I say, I love my chickens.
I was very happy to see them. I'm glad you posted them...

Yes, some are saying they are EE's. I know some of the hatcheries sell EEs as Ameraucanas. But they sure are beautiful.
Mine are true Ameraucanas that I bought as hatching eggs.
I will try to post pics of my little rascals.
I'm loving seeing everybodies chicks. Keep em coming.

What a darling little black head sticking out.
So I checked my three and none of them at 5 weeks have any red at all and no comb development.
Do you think I might have all girls?

Roadrunner is GORGEOUS!!!! do you have any pics of her at 5 or 6 weeks? This is a pretty good pic of her. Chicken on the move....
Mine have no comb like Roadrunner but they are only 5 weeks. My other breeds of chicks seem easier to tell.
I have three 5 week old ameraucana chicks. None of them have any comb development. They are all pretty sweet and not chest bumping with the wild Black Copper Maran boys.
Looks to me like 2 splash and 1 black in coloring. But I am wondering what Ameraucana chicks look like at different stages...
