What is a good age to start figuring out who to keep? Mine are 3 months old and I have to part with 3 or 4 cockerels. Should I wait a little longer or is 3 months a good time to take a hard look at them?
Yes, love the color they have at this stage..especially the blue wheatens..
He's so beautiful... but can someone confirm that he's conforming to the standard as far as color goes?
I have been enjoying this thread and all the pictures. It's been awhile since I've posted. Been busy with work, kids, farm life.. good thing I have a couple pens of "stress relievers". Love my ameraucanas! It's funny, I raised the Am's right along with a batch of BlRW's and they're still...
Ok, thanks. There are a few with just a tiny dot on the head, and just a little color on some of their wings. The chicks hatched are solid yellow, (wheatens) the chicks from TX are the ones that are showing just a touch of color on the wings, but they're a mix..wheaten's and blue wheatens..
Newbie question.. some of my wheaties are solid yellow and some have some color on their wings. Is this any indication of anything? A few should be blue wheaten's, most are wheaten. They're just a day or two old.
Looks like I'm going to end up with 9 wheaties from Peachick :)
Does anyone have a good way of marking young chicks to keep them separate? I'd like to be able to know these from the ones I'm getting this morning..
Following... I now have wheaten ameraucanas! I have 7 hatched (bought eggs from peachick) and 2 more pipped.
I also have 10 wheaten/blue wheaten chicks that should be at the post office tomorrow from Max Strawn (mstrawn3). They're trekking from TX to MI and I'm very anxious to get them.
I can't...
