Next question. My white polish hens were bred with my Welsummer rooster. Why are the chicks blue (or grey)? One is almost almost black..Super dark, and the other light. I didn't expect white, but why not brown?

Thank you! It's not completely dry yet, but what I saw when it hatched was all black (solid head) and what appeared to be a little bit of yellow around the butt?? Maybe was just messy... It's sleeping now.. I will check when my kids wake up.
