Hello:
Mena, we have finally moved to the permanent farm !
The Guineas have settled down to a life of riley !!
They are now even MORE spoiled and they are still
just as looney and terribly amusing as ever.
They have a wonderful barn to roost in and seem to
really enjoy their new digs. They share...
Hello Mena:
Although I no longer post on back yard chickens, I still get on every once in a great while. Mostly to look up Miracle and a few
other people I got to know. Glad to see that you are doing good.
I still have my birds and they are now just loving the spring. It is nice to have the...
Hello Mena:
I am both very sad and very glad.
You gave Miracle a wonderful life, one that only you could give.
Please allow me to cry with you.
I am so very glad that Miracle did not come to a violent end and that you where with the bird when she died.
Yes, most of us knew in the back of...
Hi Mena. I have discovered that if you go to open the coop and you find a lone Guinea hen out, she is most likely sitting somewhere and has come up to the coop/barn for food and drink.
A sitting hen ALWAYS makes me a nervous wreck, but this is what they do. I have two very large and deep round...
Hello Miracle:
Well today I found out where all the Guinea Hens are dissipearing to. I found two in the neighbors pastures sitting and a few running the horse arena so late at night they miss the closing of the chicken barn and just roost with the miniature horses and thier babies.
Those...
Oh Mena, I am so sad for you and Miracle. The loss of Rascal really hit me hard. Having a friend that stays with you through the day and the roost at night is a friend that will be sorely missed.
We are so careful with our Guinea friends. They just do not understand that a moving vehicle is...

We JUST got one of these and YESSSSS they are wonderful. Light weight, fast moving bullet and if you get a decent scope on it, they will take down MOST varmits.
Coyotee..... I have my reservations here though. Unless you are a REALLY good shot, they will move on with a 17 HMR in them...
Hi M., YOU ARE GORGEOUS !!!
Mena, keep the birds inside. I had to keep my birds in the barn for almost 2 weeks one fall. That was the fall I got a decent rifle with a scope and took care of the immediate problem. A .243 is always a good choice for coyotee, they are relatively inexpensive and...
Mena, it is important to keep the birds inside for some time. Coyote will come back many times as will dogs.
If you have a rifle, now is the time to use it. Listen for packs running at night and keep a vigilant look out.
Glad to hear M is good, not glad to hear you lost Guinea hens.
I am so...
Glad to see that yor are a Shenanagan, just like all the other birds. Tonight I found a big 'ol white rock hen in the dog house sitting on a pile of eggs. Silly birds, she went back up to the barn. I see you have a buddy in crime there Miracle. Just remember you can blame it all on them !!!
SOOO glad you are doing well Miracle !! The hens and Guinhens on the farm are having a wonderful time over here. The roosters are doing what roosters do and the Guincocks are chasing each other. Every one is dust bathing and sitting in the tall wet grass in the morning.
Have a wonderful life...

Congrats on your new little hen. I hope the rest of your flock accepts her without too much pecking. We bought a lone guinea (Miracle's mother) once and she was never accepted. It was sad. The others chased her away from the food. I had to coop her seperately a few times to try to...
I brought a new "baby" Guinea hen into the flock last week. She is doing just fine and has the going back to the barn thing down pat.
I think of Miracle when I see her because she is new and alone for now. I am sure the Guinea flock will be roaming with her in a few weeks and she will have...
Goodness Miracle that sure is not a Chicken neck !!
You are such a gorgeous bird. So glad you are doing great and having a regular bird life on the farm with Mena.
You are such a lucky bird M, Mena lets you play and run and keeps you safe.
Hello M. Just catching up. Have not had a "puter" for a few weeks. Got the old one running finally.
Your pic is VERY handsome/beautiful. You are a lovely looking hybrid !!
Keep up the wonderful work Mena. BTW, childrens books are usually published with watercolor/paintings of originaly...
Thanks for the update M.
It sure was a hard winter. We lost quite a few birds this time around. The flock is getting older and I have not replaced a hen for some time. Guinea friends are doing just great. They are such a hardy bird, even in the cold.
The Guineas on our farm are RUNNING hard...
I would say, Miracle's life has the makings of a GREAT childrens book. Besides, M is looking fine and his buds are birds that MANY do not know alot about. Start writing Mena and take lots of pics !!
