I knew it was you.
FYI - Five toes is a dominant trait. Recessive traits, even such things like say a clean-faced bird, can still be handled through careful breeding and time. It's called test mating.
And I'm curious, what makes you think it will not turn out to Tolbunts? Tell me...
I find it really interesting - how many folks say their Polish are picked on a lot. I have 7 Polish, and NONE of them have been picked on more than any of the non Polish. In all, I have about 35 chickens. My #1 Roo is a huge BLRW, and he doesn't let any of the others fight or get picked on. And...

Nice bird. I have some BCW's, my older hen has an almost pure white body (hard to do) but not as nice a crest. I have some young birds and two look like roo's with nice crests but a bit of grey in the chest, so hope the cross will give better crests and whiter bodies. Would take pics...

You are so lucky - being married to an enabler! I wanted to have mine in the house but he won't let me. I had a rabbit in the haouse, and she was great, until she peed in his lap, and since then nobody comes inside. I'm wondering when I shall have to sleep in the basement
(and a...
Yippee! 2 new hatchlings - one from a black crested white, and one from a white crested black, out of a Blue laced red Wyandotte!
Soon as I can (they need to dry and wake up a bit) I shall post pics.

That's awful Josh. You still got some in the bator so all is not lost.
I did worse; I only had four eggs in the bator, two hatched, one BCW and 1 WCB, and somehow I managed to kill them both. I had them in the brooder, and left for only FIVE minutes, when I got back they were dead...

I got the black BCW from a breeder - LF not bantam (Toledo, WA). Both chicks died within an hour of hatch. I'm not sure but I think the heat was too high, it's adjusted now. I didn't know that just a degree or two would make that much difference. I feel so bad that it's my fault they...
Two new hatchlings - one BCW and one WCB! Pics will follow when they are dried out. (two more eggs to go)
Oh, and anybody - this is my first polish hatch and they only went 19 days - is this usual for the breed or an anomaly? The chicks are fully formed and gorgeous. At least "I" thinks so.

I have four eggs dues to hatch on Sunday - they all candled fine, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Worst part is, we are going on vacation Tuesday morning, so I am having a friend take care of them for a week.
I have 2, so I'm hoping that I will get 2 of each, but you never know!
I liked...
Well, I just got my first 2 polish pullets this week, and now I don't know what to do. It's wet up here
in the Puget Sound, and I don't want to put them out in case they get wet and catch pneumonia.
I heard somewhere that you can tie up their crests (I really don't want to cut them off - do...
