Thanks. I am thinking about taking her to the lab for free necropsy. I noticed she was droopy over the weekend but she was eating watermelon yesterday afternoon. I am suspicious of egg issues. She wasn't laying great and the last egg I found was dry and rough like...

I'm so sorry!!
Why is it always pullets that die young?
Do you have any ideas on what might've been wrong?

I am so sad. Tonight I found my only D'uccle pullet dead in her run.
She was my little survivor, hatched along with a beautiful Barred bantam Cochin from eggs delivered during the big snow storm of 2011 back in January. Izzy and Lizzy have been inseparable. Izzy and I will both miss her very...

You can also place the chick in a tea cup with no banding of legs, make sure you attend it where it has food and water. The cups natural "U" shape pushes the legs back together in about 24 hours Just another thought to work with. Hope it all works out.
Wow!! How ingenious! I love it...

Well, to be honest I am not sure of the age. We got him/her from an assorted Bantam bin at Atwoods and I am guessing that at that time the age was around 3-4 weeks, pretty well feathered. That was about a month ago so that would put the age at around 8 weeks, but just a guess...

Wanted to share some new pics of my girls....
And my little "white" girl that hatched from eggs delivered in the snow storm in Jan. She is about 4 months old and not exactly white...but we love her just the same.
Okay...here are the boys too, siblings to the top two girls....
Update on my chicks...they are 2 weeks old today. Please let me know what you think about color.....
This is the creamier of the 2
This is the lighter or more silvery of the 2

Congrats, and welcome to the 'club' Nate!!
My tester was involved in a 'large' poultry operation in another state where there'd been a positive test. He said after it was confirmed it was a real nightmare getting things cleaned up and squared away. He said he's never ever seen...

Thanks Misty! What should I be looking for in the wing coloration between silver and citron?
If they are lemon/citron you will see the white (silver) areas start to change to a very lightish milky-tan. If silvers, they will hold the white, and right now that's what they 'appear' to be...
