Got a toe Question. Has anyone else have buckeyes with toes that tilte over and lay over on the side. I have 2 little roos that do. Is this common? Is this a defect? Thanks John.
Thanks te dave it's been hot up here in southwest Ohio, I assume you're from the south, I bet it's real bad down there. Our daughter is in the Army stationed in GA she says the heats been really bad. Hope it cools off soon so you can get your birds.
John
So sorry retiredwithchicks. It must be a bad day for chickens. the daughter dog pulled out of its collar and got 1 of my little roos. Thank God it was only one. I'd rather have the chickens than the dog anyways. It starts to barks at night around 10:00, my bedtime. John
I was woundering are you feeding that high protein diet to just show birds? Can you just go with a 20 %? I'm feeding Rock-n-Roster Booster from Southern States. It is 20% protein 1% lysine 3.50% fat 6% fiber plus, free range. Don't lysine act like a form of protien? they do seem like they are...

Our 11 buckeyes are 7 weeks old. They are starting to show more color in their feathers. Combs are getting darker red. Up to now we have had no idea which are roos and hens. It is currently our theory, that those with fuller, darker combs and more irridescent feathers on the tails and wings are...
Got a question for you all. My chicks are one mo. old today. Some are showing a comb and some arn't would that be a clue to weather or not they would be hens or roos? If not how soon would a novice be able to tell? Thanks John
This has probably been asked in this thread but it's 300 pages long. How soon can you tell the sex of a chick. The lady that we got them from said something about the stripe on their head being pullit and no stripe roos. And can they go out at 4 weeks old? It's been biblical hot around here...
Thanks! Glad to hear that they eat good and I should not lose any, they are more fun to watch in the house than tv. I'll try to get the yogurt away from the kids but you can forget about getting steak away from me:D
