Is there a reason for the yellow color in the legs ? I have seen many chickens with yellow legs, and many with other colors. I (totally personal and subjective) think the yellow is awful - It looks like dead bird legs to me. Probably because that was the color I saw when they were hanging...

sweet - my peep is coloring in about the same with stronger color on the wings. A little older than these now. But over all - all the pictures seem to have very shiny deep red feathers. Nice.

Your two links were not helpful - they were just club heavy info. I don't want to do heavy research - I just want to learn as life goes along. So I guess I will enjoy looking at some birds with various shades of red and come up with my own definitions of red. ha ha ha ha ha I don't know...

Why no need for pics now ? I would like to see the variations. You want use newbies to learn - but you are not going to share what you consider to be the best ? So then how can I compare ? Please share your pics.

mice and rats are trouble at my place ... which is why I encourage snakes, but when the hens free range.... I don't see my snakes ! :) Adults - of course. Snakes can eat the wee ones. Since I will loose my snakes - I have to beef up the buckeye number ! :)

The little girl in my pic was pure yellow when I got her - I thought I may have been slipped a white leghorn ... but her rust is coming in nicely now.

Thanks ! There are 3 breeders close enough for me to make a nice day drive out of it. :) Below is my little fuzzy ball of Buckeye right in the middle of all the teens .... scrappy little girl. :)

Oh - now I'm getting excited. And I think that is why my little fuzz balls are so spunky - the older peeps had only themselves .... they are doing fine and finding worms and bugs ... but the fuzz balls watched the older ones and now they are twice as energetic in the yard as the others were at...

Oh yes, I forgot about the moles ...Our lush rural area just has sooo many I'd like to hear more anecdotes and then I may buy a passel of Buckeyes next year. I'll try to get a pick of my little girl up here.
