Is there a reason for the yellow color in the legs ? I have seen many chickens with yellow legs, and many with other colors. I (totally personal and subjective) think the yellow is awful - It looks like dead bird legs to me. Probably because that was the color I saw when they were hanging...

sweet - my peep is coloring in about the same with stronger color on the wings. A little older than these now. But over all - all the pictures seem to have very shiny deep red feathers. Nice.

the feathers seem shiny - more so than other dark chicken colors I've seen (I'm no expert, just small farm and chickens for only 3 years) .... are others seeing this, or is it me? I like that look on the feathers. Also - what lovely live and table specimens! My girl is still...

Now those are some lovely birds !!! thanks for sharing ! does anyone have pics of the coloring really coming in from being a fuzz ball to nearly a grown look? My fuzz ball seems more rust/red than this dark red - so I am wondering if she will darken up or not. She went right after 2...

DarkRedBird - I think offensive is too strong, but evaluating your words and the way you latch onto meanings so quickly, and the narrow stance you take ... you and I would not make good teammates! :) Now, narrow allowances for show activities is called for, but not in general life - and...

Your two links were not helpful - they were just club heavy info. I don't want to do heavy research - I just want to learn as life goes along. So I guess I will enjoy looking at some birds with various shades of red and come up with my own definitions of red. ha ha ha ha ha I don't know...

mice and rats are trouble at my place ... which is why I encourage snakes, but when the hens free range.... I don't see my snakes ! :) Adults - of course. Snakes can eat the wee ones. Since I will loose my snakes - I have to beef up the buckeye number ! :)

Well - I think the drama only pertains to those posting it and swirling it up. Anyone with a functioning brain knows they can only claim they have birds from X and thier peeps are decents from that strain. Heck breeders sell birds for pets that may not meet the standard, if those birds are...

Oh - now I'm getting excited. And I think that is why my little fuzz balls are so spunky - the older peeps had only themselves .... they are doing fine and finding worms and bugs ... but the fuzz balls watched the older ones and now they are twice as energetic in the yard as the others were at...

My first buckeye is here now - a fuzz ball with a favorelle fuzz ball who are both little spit fires in with the older babies. Little buckeye is doing all the things the bigger ones do - and something is just really pulling me toward them.... I think next year I will want a decent amount of...
