I am so excited...I have a trio of horstman SPR's separated out and am collecting eggs. and they are fertile!!!! going to make some babies!!!!! woot!!!!
the male is so thrilled I finally gave him some girls of his very own.
I am thrilled with the color of the eggs...very pale and fine for...
I free range and have open topped compost bins that the chickens rummage through on a a regular basis. they love when I put stuff out there. and whatever they don't want turns into compost.
Yeah, I have to admit that thought has crossed my mind a couple of times...kinda like those nekkid cats, or Chinese crested dogs. I always thought that people would be more attractive if they had fur or feathers to cover up the injustices of the world.
I KNOW right???? that's the only bad thing about rocks is the egg color. but I do have all sorts of egg colors in my laying flock. So I will always have the dorkings as well. but I feel like I have enough laying white for now.
Ooops....I meant Partridge Roo., not pencilled...
Ok so I came here looking for info on Silver penciled rocks and partridge rocks (I have some of Horstman's) and now I am seeing the nicer barred rocks and am trying not to lose my focus...what gorgeous birds!
but...focus...I..cannot...have...every...breed/color...under...the....sun...
Hey! I haven't made it through this thread yet. (I am to page 403) but I have a few SPR's from Dick Horstman eggs...they are about 4 months old? I love them! but I have questions about the SP pattern in general. I am used to the look of my Barnevelders, I am seeing plenty of Pics of SPR's...
what she said.
So any chickens that come here, come here to stay. They can not leave except to be slaughtered.
You can still eat the eggs and the birds, though. And honestly I have never lost a bird to it and I don't medicate. they are asymptomatic. I have a very mild strain.
There are...
okay, so I was hoping for some help in determining gender of some SPR's (hortzman lines)
a nice lady hatched these out for me but I don't want to bring home too many boys because I have an MG positive flock. (I am thinking about calling my place: "Hotel California farm")
What do y'all think?
