Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

Updated chick pic. Female? Look at that little tail <3 Sorry the pic is small, it wanted to snuggle with me and whenever i'd call it it would come running… before my pic could be taken it was already on my lap/shoulder … lol

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

That's good! I was just thinking of some of the birds I've seen in shows, they looked terrified and extremely stressed. I'd love to show birds some day but disease control and stress worries me a little. A flighty bird would have it worse I'd imagine. Those birds sound quite confident, hmm...

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

Yes, that's what I was thinking after I posted. How about with hens that are shown? They tend to be more timid anyways, but maybe less frightened of people if tame? I absolutely love the roosters that are human-friendly, yet protect their hens. My friend had a great bird like that, he carried...

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

Like I mentioned earlier, I watched a program on behavioral genetics (the case study was however, with foxes) and they breed only the calmest most gentle ones and generations later they had foxes that were tame like dogs and even developed new colors and fur/tail types. Now I don't know as to...

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

Thanks everyone! The information is really helpful. If I had my camera I'd post a new picture of how it looks now, it's already starting to feather out nicely and it's hatch date was Jan 5th (in the early early hours). Such a little bird! It's hatch-mates weren't OEGB (I only got one egg of...

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

Yes, that's what I was going by. It's father is a pea comb type chicken, my friend's roos were shamo so as weird as that is, that's the likely cross. But I've noticed most wild colored chicks (when I did some research) are hens with dark and roos with lighter colors.

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

Thanks… and yeah. ^^ Then again it may just be a dominant female. Seeing how it really doesn't like the other birds I'm thinking It will be a single bird unless it decides biting their eyes and fighting them is old news. It just wants to sleep in my hand and roost on my shoulder without them...

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

Hmm… well I hope whichever gender this bird is it remains friendly with me after bird puberty. I've seen some darling pet roosters out there, including a Japanese who was the tamest bird I've ever seen and loved attention. My birds are pets so them being friendly towards me is important. I...

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

xD I hope so. If it's a roo, it's going to need some human socializing though. It can fly/crawl all the way up to my shoulder while i'm standing too, and its tiny. I was so amazed. I think it's a the little animal thing, they they think they're huge and can do anything. This bird has a lot of...

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

Thanks :D yeah i found conflicting info though (i looked it up after that). And All over the internets it said the opposite… GAH. I should just be patient but really want to know…. so i can settle on a name and a pronoun. XD The birds crazy though, it launched itself right at an adult hen's...

Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

I know this belongs to another section but since this is a breed specific page thread I have to ask. Is the sexing of OEGB Wild type colored chicks (chipmunks) accurate? Like i heard/read you can sex them based on this in certain breeds. I have an OEGB cross but over all it looks VERY OEGB...
