You are welcome. Specifically what you are seeing is Red bleeding though the black not brown. They look like healthy happy chicks aside from that. Best wishes.
Absolutely NOT normal. This would be a huge disqualifying fault. They should also have nearly black shanks and toes. Yours have too much willow. Also they should have Dark Brown eyes so you are WAAAAAAAAAY outside the standard of perfection.
A white JG should have willow colored shanks and toes with the undersides of feet being yellow. Eye color should be brown/dark brown. All the other qualities that you could use as a guideline do not show themselves fully until the bird hits puberty. Best wishes!
Here is a link to several videos I shot of my BJGs between days 3-60 so you can compare behavior if you'd like. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLv5YwwO7VnP9TBuKN8aKQeHCS5FiQIpzl
I would not really call them flighty at any point although they do startle like any chicken. That being...
It is easier to tell when they are younger. Pullets get tail feathers before cockerels. The boys generally develop combs and red faces before the girls. Does look like a pullet though. Small comb.
This. I bought two dozen from Murray mcmurray and about 1 in 3 had pinkish feet. I dont think commercial hatcheries are all that careful with rhier breeding programs.
Hello Jersey lovers!
Meet my infirmary bird. She was born on the 2nd of February this year.
In her short life she has been attacked by dogs TWICE. She is such a trooper, we nursed her back to health and she ended up spending almost two weeks living indoors with us recovering. Now she is as...
Jersey giants can develop joint problems if they have to jump up and down from heights of more than 18 inches. Roosting poles close to the ground would be okay but I would avoid creating an environment where they have to do more jumping than necessary.
I thought I would post pictures of my flock. They have been with us for 15 days. Ordered from Murray McMurray as day olds. Feel free to comment on them!
