Well "Shrek" has been with me about a month now.. so much improvement in his condition!! I'm blaming his poor wing carriage on account of it being +28C!
Went back out for a 3rd attempt -- here they are.
Shrek, the Rooster.
Penny
Chicken Little (She's tiny..)
Jersey (Who I've had for almost a year, from a different breeder)
Hi there!
Yes, all 3 of them have a more dusky yellow foot right now, but I expect that to brighten up. They had a bit of a rough go the past week or so and look pretty poor, but I imagine they will perk up over the next month or so. Here are a few more I snagged after my intial post was...
How Correct (Or In Correct) is this Roo? He's coming up on 1 yr old and has been through a traumatizing past week in terms of travel, etc. I was just going to fatten him up and butcher him as I didn't think he would be the type or quality i'm looking for, inbeginning a little breeding venture...
My Jersey is finally laying again - first egg since August from her 3 days ago, and she hasn't missed a day since, and they're getting bigger and darker each day.
I really appreciate your input and understand from the lack of photos. Yes, the bottom of her feet are yellow. We don't show or anything, but I don't want to invest in a Giant Roo and end up depleating the gene pool if she's less than acceptable.
My Jersey is still a nutcase and hasn't laid in 5 weeks :( She's just finishing her molt, so i'm hoping she starts laying again soon... I've been so busy the past 4 weeks I haven't had much chance to spend with my birds so i'm homing I can get this girl more friendly otherwise she's going to...
Question for all you Jersey enthusiasts.. I was always under the impression they produce L/XL eggs.. but mine's consistently producing Medium's that are a quite light brown.. is she missing something in her diet, or is this normal?

I certainly didn't intend to sound overly negative in my post. I'm in absolute love with the breed, and always have been. I'm far from throwing my hands and saying "that's it, she's too crazy, time to throw her in the roaster!". I guess I just expected different results. That...
My Jersey finally stopped trying to run thru the fence at the sight of me, but is still very flighty :( She's averaging 1 Medium sized egg every 2 days. Is this normal? I've had her for 1 week.
Well I brought home my new Jersey today. So far she's very, very flighty. I really hope that changes! The breeder claims the Blues and Splashes tend to be in comparison to the Whites.
I am in absolute LOVE with this breed. They're very hard to come by in Alberta, but luckily I found a local breeder who is drastically downsizing. To my knowledge, they are 1 of only 2 who take it seriously, in Alberta. I am just starting with 1 as we don't have the room for more right now...
