My current batch is 11 weeks old as of Aug 3rd. There is naturally a range in weights, the larger birds are running 7-8 lbs, while the smaller ones are running 5-6 lbs. Keep in mind that JG's tend to really fill out after about a year. They are slow growing, but worth the wait. I think many of...
I got all my BJG's from Cackle Hatchery, and have no complaints at all. It really depends on what you want them for. For show quality birds, hatchery is not the best route. For a dual purpose meat and egg bird, hatchery birds are fine.
LOL! I'm usually growing out about 20 BJG's, along with my other breeds. I'm pretty much totally deaf when I'm not wearing my electronic enhancements, so I never noticed if they're noisy or not. Either way, BJG's and Cochins are my favorite breeds.
You're gonna love them! I have 21 right now, between 7 weeks and 11 weeks. Lay in plenty of good high protein feed, they grow amazingly fast. They are quiet, but constant eaters!
Ya gotta be kidding me!!!
I googled the Ayam last night, and figured that's gotta be it, also found listings for several breeders. The pic above is a little misleading because it doesnt show the whole tail. Like I said before, it's kind of cool looking, but what makes this bird worth that kind...
Never heard of either breed. I googled (or maybe binged) Black Jersey Giant and came up with one link for images, and these were mixed in with the rest of the pics. I think the top one looks cool, the bottom one looks nasty.
OK, to anyone who might know, while googling for Black JG pictures, I ran across a few pics of what looks like a BJG, but has almost purplish black comb and wattles. Is this, in fact, a BJG, or another similar appearing breed, and if so, what is it?
here is the pic I'm talking about...
