Nice set up! Quail are every bit as good as chickens when it comes to earth moving. They'll have that sand and mulch mixed in no time. If you put the water up on a layer or two of bricks it will stay cleaner and they can still reach it. You might want higher sides on your sand box, they'll...

Nice set up BTW! I have those exact cups. They learn to use them faster than chickens, guess they are smarter than we give them credit for. These cups will never be full of water! They are not meant to work that way! There is no float valve in them. The bird triggers the yellow valve and...

Nice portable pens! Make sure if your birds must put their heads out to eat that they are protected from predator attack by wire over the feeders you may go out to check on your birds one day and find their heads have been munched on.

You will want to use something to prevent predators from digging under to get your quail. A skirt of wire placed on the ground around the outside will work, you can bury it or leave it on the surface.

Nice! Love the pans, are they plastic? Do you have trouble with rain getting to the lower row of cages? Wow, a quail maze! Lots of choices of where to spend their day. I'm trying to imagine gathering eggs from that. An Easter egg hunt every day? Is it all connected, or is each section it's...

X2 At the very least cover the edges of the mesh with strips of wood nailed down. Metal mesh/welded wire is much safer for the quail. Even a dog can rip into plastic and eat your birds.

True, you might want to put something soft under the wire roof to prevent injuries. Netting, shade cloth, etc.

It works great for chickens too. Just make sure to get the unglazed kind so they can soak up the water. Glazed terracotta just gets hot in summer. I like the Italian terracotta, it lasts much longer than the type made in Mexico.

I finally got pics of my quail cages. All of the cages are two feet deep and one foot high. There are two 4 foot long grow out/production cages on the right and four 2 foot long breeding cages on the left for 16 feet of cages for now. The shade cloth is raised up in the back for better...

I don't see why not. If I did that at my house I would have to make sure the quail could not put it's head through the bars of the cage or my dogs would kill the quail. I was thinking the same thing. You might want to put a wire safety over the waterer so you don't end up with headless quail...
