To me , he looks to be Serama and/or Japanese breeding ...... could be either one or combo of both .
I'd say he was a lucky bird and looks to be well taken care of .

i would call the hatchery and/or send them the pics ........... what happen to the black tail buff japs ? what kind of japs are the ones in pic suppose to be ?
Seriously they don't look anything like japs i've raised in the past ..... let us know what you find from the hatchery please .

PS; of course he needs agood clean up and neosporin/triple antibiotic applied to comb , face , ear lobes , wattles , legs and feet (plus any other wounded area)...
yes grab him up ..... they are scarce now a days(smile) . Yes use him with your whites and see what you get ... i've heard that using black also works with barred .... we probably should call them cuckoos . as you can tell i'm no expert on this but i don't think one needs to be inorder to have...
These are absolutely BEAUTIFUL Japs !!!! I'm so glad you posted the pics !! You are lucky to have such nice BTW Japanese , i hope you the best with them( i would certainly take your culls if we lived close /i'm in south Alabama) . Will be at the Newnan show at Atlanta the middle...
