what fantastic tufts!!! And thanks :)
As it turns out i am still lacking on the black or blue tufted rooster front and am now up to 6 clean faced rumpless hens.... so i either need a rooster or need some hatching eggs from solid blue/black/splash pens...
Send me a pm :)
Thanks
Sib
Just wanted to say hi all, things have settled down and i'll be coming back on regularly again, missed you guys, glad to see the threads still jumping :) I've lost an entire year of breeding but gonna try and catch up over winter.
Lovely black! I'm hoping to get a roo like yours this winter, I have some lovely black girls already and a beautiful blue too, just need a clear black lol and tufts lol
I've never had an araucana bind, so I wouldn't say it was a breed thing, but as mentioned it could be a line thing, or it could just be a fluke. I have had quail bind, and have had different methods to unbind them, but it seams like once bound they are prone to it and eventually succumb. you did...
Just curious if anyone has been culling for color based off of chick down color? I've been talking with a couple of breeders who have mentioned that they cull any chick with rusty cast and it has decreased and/or eliminated adult birds with bleed. just wondering how many do this? I hope to have...
well it seams as though the young boys are doing their jobs, of the 8 eggs i brought to my friends house to incubate, all 8 are growing... which quite frankly astounds me because I've watched both mavericks doing their thing and it certainly didn't look too promising to me haha.
sorry to hear that, maybe its not actually gotten, maybe just a little on the bare butted side of things? Possoms here are slobs, they leave as much of a bird as they eat.
I have 2 flocks really, a blue/black/splash flock and a blue red flock. I've got to eliminate the bleed in males on my blue/black/splash flock, and the blue reds need tufts lol.
I will keep you in mind but transport would likely be a big problem lol. I suspect he will have a fair bit of color on him as he matures, but he does have wonderful tufts!
Who on our thread is from michigan? I'm looking for (in order of preference) a solid black(no bleed) tufted(need not be perfect, just existent lol) rumpless rooster, blue tufted rumples rooster (no bleed), or a black or blue breasted red tufted rumpless rooster.
Stacy these are the girls i referred to, the pictures aren't the greatest, but you get the idea lol. the second one has kept a lot more blue. I'll have to get some decent pictures in more natural poses lol
the odd ball reminds me of blue wheaten duckwing lol, if thats even possible lol, I'm right with you on the blues and blue reds... did you see the picture of my ginger blue girls a ways back? They lack your girls magnificent tufts though... maybe next year?
I'm still trying to cut down from the birds i raised up this year haha. I can only imagine what next year will be like when i have "keeper" piles because of colour, type, now tufts... geeze!
