I'm thinking it's Mycoplasms ... And I know where it came from... It was a stupid mistake. A while back I got 6 silkies from someone. Of course I had heard all about biosecurity but In my excitement, I said what the heck and out them directly in the main pen.
I'm fairly confident this issue...

So...
It seems my flock has picked up some lovely respiratory disease O___o
Laying is down to 0
Some of the hens have snot oozing from their nostrils and some are wheezing....
Wonderful.
Has anyone experienced this?
I'm hoping it can be treated. No idea what it is
Got to love that Sebright attitude!!! I had a buff roo that was the boss of the all the other roosters (including a rir roo).
Well, if you decide you want them, they are free. I just want them to go to a good home
Today I went out to gather the eggs before work, and I'm kinda happy now because one of my silkies might be broody :) which is nice because I had been planning to incubate some silky eggs anyway!!
Wait ......
YOU GIYS DON'T MEAN THE CHICKS ARE ALREADY COMING IN???
I'M ALL STOCKED UP ON LAYING HENS. BUT I CAN ALWAYS DO WITH SOME "ASSORTED BANTAMS"(THEY SHOULD JUST SAY ASSORTED COCHINS CAUSE THAT'S ALL I SEEM TO GET)
I sort of agree with RedneckGurl...
How old are they when you put them in with the grown chickens?
And if it is the hen doing this to the young ones, why wouldn't you just take that hen out... ?
It just seems to me that your heart really isn't into this project...
Question for everyone....
I forgot to collect some silky eggs last night... And it was COLD. I had planned to incubate them. Do you think they will stll hatch??
Thought so

I ordered some quail eggs Tuesday night. They should ship soon.
Does anyone else get extremely nervous during the incubation process?? It's just so nerve racking. Don't know why I keep doing this to myself! Lol
I know I had company over, and after we ate, they walked out to see our chickens and were mortified to see that I was giving the chickens the tails from the shrimp we just ate.. blew their mind
And, they try really hard to lay their eggs in the broodys nest... Like literally, I walked outside and found two hens sitting ON TOP of the broody to lay their egg
Have you observed her picking fights with the other hens? Or avoiding mating with the roo?
I have noticed in my pen, when a hen is broody, and all grumpy, that when she would walk around the pen, other hens would pick on her. I also noticed them going to the nest box just to check on the...
I have had some semi broody. It could go either way.mine have acted like that before and some decided to sit on them full time, and some shook it off and went on with theirs business
