    ALABAMA!!

NW Alabama, I need to buy some Chicken wire to cross fence my pasture. I need about 150', either 3 or 4 feet tall. Where is the cheapest place to go get it? I found some on Amazon for $54 for 5'x150' Is there a better deal?

    ALABAMA!!

9 inches of snow in Phil Campbell. Opened the door to the coop this morning and one chicken ventured out. It was chest deep. She waddled around for about 2 minutes and ran back to the coop.

    ALABAMA!!

My chickens come out of the coop, look at the snow and try to dodge it. They run around for a few minutes then back into the coop. We have near 4" here in Phil Campbell

    ALABAMA!!

Snow in Phil Campbell. Snow sticks to chickens. They ran to the coop, well most of them. I put a couple suet blocks in there. That'll keep them busy for a few hours.

I caught a possum in a live trap a few weeks ago. Wish I knew someone would buy it, lol.

    ALABAMA!!

No snow yet in NW Ala. Hoping it starts soon. Also hoping it warms up soon. Hauling water to the chickens every day is becoming a chore. I've been taking them warm water in the morning and evening. Like warm coffee in the morning and warm milk in the evening. Most seem to like it. When I...

    ALABAMA!!

Question about ducks. A friend gave me some Khaki Campbell eggs to put in my incubator. They seem to be coming along fine. I have only had chickens in the past, so I have some questions about them. Can they get along with my chickens? I thought they needed a pond, but I have read that they...

    ALABAMA!!

I wish I had know you needed a roo. I had a nice Rhode Island Red Rooster that is a year old, plus or minus a month. Nice big heavy guy. He started worrying my Delaware rooster. I think there are a couple red sex link roosters in there too, but I couldn't tell them apart (the sex link thing...

    ALABAMA!!

I added 3 new ones to the flock today. Rooster looks like a big Delaware. White feet, white beak. I added a picture. The other two I am not sure. I can't get a good picture. They are black, black legs. Gold on their chest/neck. They have the biggest eyes I have ever seen in chickens.

Well darn. We just replaced my mother in law's stove. Her old one worked, but nobody would take it. If I hada known, you could have had it. We took it to the scrapyard. Whats your recipe?

    ALABAMA!!

I live in PC and the same thing happened. Luckily, I was down to about 10 pounds. I just dumped the bucket into the run and they have been eating it. I didn't see any mold, so I felt ok doing it. The run dried out today, mostly. The coop, luckily is mostly dry inside. It has been cold at...

    ALABAMA!!

My place looks like that. I have a plan, though. I am opening a large area for them to free range this Winter/Fall. Their small run (17x50) I will smooth out and sow down with some fescue. In the old coop, I am going to put chicks this Spring. When the grass comes up, they ought to be old...

    ALABAMA!!

For cold weather, I started feeding them a suet block (99cents from Walmart) once a week or so. I gave them one this weekend since it was really cold, but I probably won't this weekend. I also started mixing a small bag of BOSS (black oil sunflower seed) in the 50lb bag of scratch. I give...

    ALABAMA!!

I really thought about it, but I just took it to the other side of the cow pasture. Some dog or buzzard will find it. It had a big cut where I hope the rooster it ate Friday night gave it a what for before dying

    ALABAMA!!

Nope, cold. LOL. Also, this morning I trapped my mysterious chicken killer. It killed about a dozen chickens. Finally trapped and killed a massive possum.
