He is! We have two frizzle hens that came with him, but they are in the middle of a very ugly molt (and won't be bred to him). We are hoping he and her silkies will make some sizzles next year.

    ALABAMA!!

Yeah, that's what I was worried about the first few times, but I finally bit the bullet and got it good and tight. I had to pull a lot of the up so I could get it good and snug.

    ALABAMA!!

Awww! The collar is still working for our little Tractor. I did figure out it had to be tight. He dislikes it so much he doesn't even try to crow. He still makes other sounds, though. I guess it just depends on the rooster, maybe?

You have the right to demand to know who has complained. In our city, a complaint has to be made in writing and signed. I would demand to see a complaint in writing if they city says something to you about anything else. That's just ridiculous.

That's so neat - I didn't think about a sock! I might have to try that, too, just to see how it works.

    ALABAMA!!

No, it isn't like a bark collar - no shocking or anything. It is made of mesh and velcro and fits snugly around the neck and puts pressure to limit the force of air so the crow isn't as loud. They can still crow, just not as loud. Apparently our little Tractor just gave up trying since he...

    ALABAMA!!

@Tomtommom I tightened the No Crow collar on the little rooster last night and absolutely NO crowing until I took it off this morning. I am rather impressed as I did not think it would completely eliminate it. I'm going to test it out for a few more days and then tuck it away for those days...

    ALABAMA!!

@Tomtommom , don't forget about cars that drive around in the wee hours with the radio blaring - that's worse than a rooster! Of course, you could always go the therapy route if you have any health issues. We have a noise ordinance too, but the city kinda knows better than to try to mess with...

    ALABAMA!!

We're grandfathered in - I could have a backyard full of pigs if I wanted and nobody could do anything about it, haha. My next-door neighbor decided to gripe about my daughter's little rooster all over Facebook, though. As my dad is her landlord and they've been on my wifi for years out of the...

    ALABAMA!!

OK, got my No Crow Collars today. I ordered a small and a medium just to be safe. It said for a bantam Cochin a small, but Tractor is a little big and is a frizzle with tons of feathers on his neck, so I was skeptical about a small working. Well, he pulled the small off in under 2 minutes. I...

    ALABAMA!!

Ooohh!! @Tomtommom , I ordered one and mine should be here today or tomorrow! I had to get one for my daughter's little bantam rooster in our backyard - he's REALLY vocal, lol! I'm interested to see if it works. We'll have to compare notes!

Anybody interested in some Iowa Blues? 12 weeks old - roo/pullet pairs or roo + 2 pullets. Need to thin a few roos out.

    ALABAMA!!

I put out several shallow pans full of water for mine to wade in and they love it. I fill them with ice water in the morning when I let them out and by noon, they still have nice cool water to go wade in and cool off. I also freeze 2-liter bottles of water and sit out for them and they will go...

@bamadude Awesome, thanks! Just ordered it! Showing will be completely new to me.

    ALABAMA!!

LOL, I don't know much about the chicken shows, but I guess we'll be learning next year! That would be really cool! I'll keep you posted! I've got about a dozen kids signed up so far and I know about 3 of them will do poultry. More want to, but convincing moms and dads is a whole 'nother...

    ALABAMA!!

@kimberly35042 I'm actually a 4-H leader. Our club is really new, though - Our first official meeting was just a couple of weeks ago. My daughter is the only one with chickens so far, but I know I have several kids that would like to get into it. I'm trying to talk Jefferson County into...

This is my new guy. His mate is a frizzle. I'm going to try and get a good picture of her tonight.

    ALABAMA!!

Thanks, @Wisher1000 . My grandfather always kept them confined to new coop for a few days and then they would get used to the routing of being put up every night. For the first week or so, I bribe mine in with some cabbage at the same exact time and they get used to the routine and go in on...
