This is my first year with them and I plan on hatching them all. They are show quality and I only have the pair. But I'll think about it. What do you raise and are they SQ? :)
They are easy to raise. The need clean water daily and enough to submerge their whole bill because of how they eat and so they can clear their nasal passages. They don't need a pond, but it is nice if they get to swim so they can clean themselves. :)
My first two butterscotch calls hatched! :) I have 3 more to hatch this week...mommy duck is on her own set...she wasn't setting and these eggs were getting old, so I incubated them. Out of the first 5 I got these two cuties!
I got one little grey call to hatch outta 4 that made it to lockdown. I have the hardest time hatching them! At least I had some chicks hatch a day later to keep it company.
I gave up on shipped call eggs and finally bought a nice butterscotch pair and had them shipped. I think that price was still less than everything I had spent on eggs!
Those are beautiful! I have a pair of butterscotch calls.... It got -30 here this past week (almost all week) and even in their insulated shed they didn't look like they were doing well. My drake had ice hanging off him. So I brought them in and then gave them a bath:) and they got to stay...
