This year's hatch, smallest Call I ever hatched, he weighs less than 1pound. Way smaller than all the others, and doesn't seem to be real strong and thrifty, seems a bit on the weak side. Going to have to make him a special pen with his little black bibbed girlfriend, I'm afraid he's gonna get...

My white call drake mated to a gray call hen, ended up with white, bibbed and gray call babies, you never know what you'r going to get. Your little fellow looks show quality to me, that is very difficult to duplicate show quality, best way is to get some breeder/show quality gray, pied or bibbed...

He's a handsome little fellow! The other birds are so much bigger than him, hopefully they will accept him and not hurt him, be needs a little call duck wife the same size he is.

Thank you Julie Bird, hopefully he will, there's a chance he could have squueezed through a hole and got under the chicken coop, had time to think about it while driving. Still on the road, will check under the chicken coop when i get home in a couple of hours.

Yes they are sitting ducks, my guard dog patrols around the pens at night and barks a lot, I know he won't allow any critter to get through the fence, never once has anything got in, was thinking his barking would probably scare owls away too, but apparently he was taking a nap when the owl landed

Rats! Counting white calls this morning and come up one short! My slip winged drake from Holderread's is missing, no body parts or piles of feathers anywhere, so can only surmise it was an owl. Going to have to put some netting over the top of the pen it looks like. Don't have time to do it...
