If it's not a perfect little 'fro it is VERY likely a rooster. Keep an eye on it's behavior as well. 8 weeks is when my Silkie Roos started sparring. If you have good "quality" Silkies, the crest gives it away. My hens have perfect round little "Afro" crests and the roosters have more "punkrock", slicked back crests. I knew by about two months which was which but in another month you should have no trouble telling which is which whatsoever...- CYGChickies
