Thank you both! I love her lots. I like the more unusual colors the most, I think. I've had two chocolate babies hatch, but one got trampled and died and a skunk got the other one. Unfortunately I haven't had any hatch out that color since. Of course that was just solid chocolate baby down too...

TnMama, they can't tell what sex they are at that age unless they have been DNA tested which the feed stores don't do. They buy in bulk from the hatcheries. They can GUESS, and have a 50/50 chance just like the rest of us! Silkies are supposed to be a feather leg breed. Excerpt from the...

That is so hard to determine. Are all the normal things correct, 5 toes each foot feathered properly, tight wings, full thick feathering, etc.? How does she compare to others you have seen? Best way to find out is take her to a small show and see how she does. She looks very pretty in your pictures.

Gorgeous babies. Yes, I agree with you - I see lots of boys too. CatDance babies are usually easy to sex when they are young (for me anyway). Zipper would be a cute name too, though you won't be able to see it when the adult feathers come in.

Maybe because no one really knew??? I had a baby hatch out similar to this one of yours - I call her my little Green Head. I still call her that! Do you know the color of the parents? Could it be a silver based white? I know a few pages back RockerHen posted a baby that turned white and it was a...

Me three!!! I guess because there are so many possibilities with partridge. I am really a sucker for the eyeliner too! FancyChookLady you take such amazing pictures. Is that your camera setting that softens the backgrounds like that or is that a program you use? Either way, they are excellent...
