I bought this chick from another breeder he/she is so sweet. It is eating and drinking on its own and I give it vitamins through a syringe, its doing much better. Thanks for all the advice its the first time I have ever had a chick like this. Its like you said @ChickenLady2014 if I did not...
I feed them a good grower mash that has all the needed vitamins and greens on a daily basis. I got a good vitamin supplement that I will add to the water and feed it to the chick with a syringe. I did notice it is a picky eater could be why it is the only one that has got it.
Please help my one Silkie chick is acting weird, he pulls his head into his chest and walks backwards. He eats and drinks and walks normal at times but keeps doing the head thing, I seperated him from the other chicks.
I could not find my black hen anywhere started panicking, I checked the coop twice. Looked everywhere went back to the coop and found her at the back sitting on 3 eggs lol.
Hi everyone my chicks are getting big now what do you think:
6 weeks now, hoping this one turns out to be a pullet
4 weeks now, really hoping this one is a roo if it is I'm putting it separate with my black hen
My one silkie hen got grabbed by an iguana today, luckily is still small and only bruised her leg she limps a bit but is fine. I was convinced I had lost her but she is tougher than I thought, the vet came to check on her and said I must keep an eye on her for the next few days.
Thanks
I only have the one brooder at the moment, as I only recently started breeding with the silkies. I breed show quality australorps so I keep the breeds separate, although the thought of a australorp x silkie is very intriguing. Hopefully I will be able to build a separate brooder after...
Thanks I'm going to divide the run and place her (I'm hoping its a pullet) and the other chick there so they can be outside during the day and I will put them in the brooder at night, the other chick is now 3 weeks old. They share the brooder with week old Australorp chicks so I'm considering...
Thanks it must be dehydration its has been very hot the past few days, I bathed her this morning she is much better I put some ice cubes in the water so they can cool down
Hi all, I've been busy my australorps eggs are hatching
I now have 8 silkie eggs in the bator from my black and silver hens both was with the breeders porcelain roo so I'm hoping for some beautiful roos that I can add to the flock.
Lol thanks Im getting one of my other hens this weekend will post some pics, I have 3 silkie eggs in the incubator hoping for black chicks. I'm considering getting a black roo later, there is just something about black Silkies that I love.
I would like some advice I just got 6 goslings, their mom was killed by jackals so the guy decided to sell the babies before the jackals get them too. I'm thinking of placing them with the silkies is this a good idea? The black hen is broody because she has the two chicks already will she take...
