Hi everyone! I sadly wanted to let y'all know that my large hen, Marilyn, I got around April to be our large roosters buddy, Marvin, was attacked by a Hawk and died a week later! We had her a total of seven months! She was loved and lived the life of a Queen while she was with us! We buried...

I always try to go by the booty and the leg feathers! If there's a split at the top of the booty? It's usually a roo! And if the back ankle feathers are long at about a day or two of age? It's a roo! If the front feathers above their eyes are square looking? It's a roo! I've had very few fool me...

Sure makes sense on the mommy sharing! But my hens never liked having other momma's around! I can't count how many fights I've had to break up! One of the momma's would have feathers sticking out of her beak and I'd say: "Look? You even have the evidence in your beak that you were whooping up on...

I never let my mommies raise babies around other chickens. There could be some fighting and the babies could end up getting injured or killed. TC

That stuff is magical! LOL I taught my daughter to put a dab of it on her zits and cover with a band aide before going to bed! The next morning it was almost gone! She was like WOW Mom! She's in her 30's! Also works the same for cuts and scrapes on ourselves. So my curiosity got the better of...

What do you do for bloody areas? I wash the blood off and then apply the baby desitine to the affected area! That stuff cures everything! And no other chicken wants to mess with it either! TC

When hatching babies with my silkies - back in the day? I used a low sided cardboard box. I put either fresh cut grass, dried, in the box or soft hay. I'd then put the box in a dog crate. I put a bowl of water and a bowl of feed close by so all she had to do was reach out to get to them. I'd...

It wouldn't matter if she had eggs or not! When they go broody? They'll set on a golfball! LOL It's a known fact! Silkies have one goal in life. Set and raise babies! This sounds like she's safe from the yeast infection! Crossing my fingers here! TC

If she's growling? Then she's probably going broody! She should be fluffing her feathers out at other chickens around her too. Would this be her first time to set and raise babies? I've had hens that would scream at me when I'd reach into their cages. When I reached underneath them they'd growl...

Sounds like it could be a Yeast Infection! If her crop feels like a balloon full of liquid? That's what that is. I sat with the hen in my lap and massaged her crop. I'd gently push upwards and then back to get it to go down her throat. I fed her "exact" baby parrot food thru a syringe to give...

My hen, Molly, in my Avatar is a Blue! Beats the heck out of me! Looks black, grey and silver to me! LOL I've named them all. Hens and roosters. I had a bunch of them with names starting with an M. My XH could never figure out who was who! He took markers and colored their heads with different...
