    I have 14 silkie chicks, and I was wondering at watch age I should be able to tell the difference between male and female. Do only male silkies grow combs? And at what age should the females start laying?

    I always thought these were the goofiest looking birds, but now I LOVE them!! Still goofy looking, especially the bearded ones when they're trying to see something. I have a male who loves to crow and female who likes to peck and 15 chicks, 14 that hatched Friday and one that is 3 wks old...
