I was thinking I had a pullet until I took a closer look at the comb. The hatchmates have combs 2-3 times larger, but I still think boy, right? No head streamers, but seem to have neck streamers. I am a silkie novice.

The side of the egg I photographed only had a few dirt spots. The bottom half was the side embedded in the muck. So it truly had a greenish hue to the shell. I did put it in the incubator, so we'll see if I wiped it out in the water in about five days or so.

That's what I was banking on. All my other splash breeds are that creamy color too. Not that I wouldn't like splash silkies, but since I have quite a few blues, I'm assuming splash (and black) are in my future.

For those of you more experienced with silkies than me, what color do I have here? I got three bright silver gray chicks out of paint eggs. They don't look like the typical blues I hatch. Thanks.

I found what was to me the strangest thing in my silkie/SG pen. I was just wondering if anyone has had this. This egg is absolutely green cast. It has to be from the silkies.

I thought I'd share my two paint babies. They're about seven weeks old and just got moved to a growout pen in the shed.
I just hatched out six more paints, four of them SG's. I just love the spots!
