Minnesota State Poultry Association Show, BCPPA show, will hopefully make it to some shows out of state this fall. If all else fails, send birds down to friends of mine and let them exhibit them. There is a fairly complete list on www.PoultryShowCentral.com. that lists for each state.

When you get into breeding silkies for showing, you will notice a definite difference in feather quality. The ones bred for show ring have a density to their feathers that you won't get on hatchery stock. Its hard to describe unless you get your hands on them. Its almost like there is twice...

That same vault is also very sensitive to other stuff as well..... I've personally seen them affected by changes in temperature and barometric pressure. Many of those chicks have problems pipping and getting out of the shell. I've also had a couple chicks hatched with brains exposed and no...

I raise a few different breeds of bantams as well and I know not to even mix them beyond in the brooders. The crested breeds like my silkies and polish especially don't do well with other breeds. The huge beards and crests impede vision. The silkies can't fly like other breeds and have no way...

Oh that poor boy!!!! I know when people come to me for birds, one of my first questions I ask is if they have housing separate from other breeds. Its like putting a maltese in full coat out with a bunch of rowdy german shepherds. It might work, but more than likely they will get trampled...

Not sure how I managed to mess up that last post and trying to use the quote button. When 'Midwest' left here he looked like this. Comb is funky, but as a project bird he had potential for the red project.

I have like 10 of those older cull cockerels running around the yard til they fill out more. Mis-colored blacks or partridge...whatever they are. There's a local swap on the 16th and will likely become Asian cuisine if they can't find pet homes there.

Kind of hoping this boy colors out a lil more. Very dark partridge and he has the proper black breast. He's only about 5 months old though and hasn't finished his juvenile molts.

The red partridge do exist here in the US.... However they don't fit the American ABA or APA book of standards for the partridge color though because they don't have the proper black breast. I know last year I sold a lot of $10 pet quality culls that looked like this..... They hatched with...

She's also on Facebook under Karen Stillwell Wickam. You could also check with Vicky Peterson from Forest Lake. She doesn't raise partridge, but maybe has some smutty buffs that are close to color you want.

Google her name for a phone number? She sometimes puts ads on Craigslist for silkies and seramas when she has them available. I just ran a search on there right now and didn't see anything for sale from her though.

Sleepy Eye MN... Southwestern MN. Its about 45 miles straight west of Mankato if that gives you an idea. You'd have to check MapQuest or Google for an exact route from your location. I plan on having a few of the extras at the Game Breeders Swap in Hutchinson on Feb. 20th. You could also...

Here are current pics of those younger $15 and $25 ones. They are lighter. Not sure if that is more what you are looking for. It will be probably 3-6 more months til they are old enough to breed though. The rest of the $10 younger chicks still have the chipmunk striped down.

The pullets have been coming out more like this. The cockerels have been everything from chesnut, to darker, to fiery red. Just to give you an idea of what some of these chicks will look like.

I'd have several ranging from week olds all the way to breeder age available. I have 15-16 partridge chicks that are under 3 weeks old for $10 each. There are 2 lighter partridge chicks that are about 5 weeks old for $15 each. There are 2 left that look to be cockerels that are about 9-10...
