When I talked with my son about it, we talked about how the rooster's ultimate job is to protect his girls...that he would give up his own life to protect them. So, he was the ULTIMATE protector!     The quote button is acting up. I have not been to a swap before, but I agree with 3goodeggs...I quarantine news birds before putting them in with my flock and think it is a smart idea to change and disinfect shoes if you go anywhere that you could possibly bring something home to your flock
